On Saturday, 27 Jan 2024, living legend Tony Hawk is dropping into Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall to provide a fully immersive IRL experience of his iconic THPS video game, celebrating 25 years of a multigenerational series.
If you grew up in the noughties, chances are you played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game, or at the very least, experienced the hype. In an incredibly special worldwide exclusive, The Fortitude Music Hall will be transformed to replicate a visually iconic level from the game.
Doubling the day’s shred, the game’s original artists Bodyjar, DZ Deathrays, and Alex Lahey will provide the soundtrack to the sessions, as well as performances from pop punk outfit Yours Truly and up and coming punk duo Teenage Joans. The soundtrack will also be performed by Birdman, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater cover band, who will play hit after hit across all the game’s soundtracks including bangers from Rage Against the Machine, Millencolin, and, of course, Goldfinger.
Ticket holders will be able to play the O.G. games on the 5 metre video wall situated behind the bands while Tony and the crew skate as well as plenty of other console stations set up to play each game of the series.
With a huge career spanning decades, Tony Hawk’s influence on skateboarding and its culture has been paramount in bringing sport to the fore of culture.
From his unrivalled competition record to kicking off one of gaming’s greatest franchises, he’s also funded over 600 skateparks across the U.S. with his launch of The Skatepark Project, and is still skating at a professional level.
Now you can see him live and in person.
